Fringe - Tribal Fusion Style troupe
Fringe is Twisted Dance’s Tribal Fusion student troupe. It was formed in 2011 , and is directed by Heather.
The troupe has performed for the belly dance community in the Raleigh-Durham area, crowds at the Greensboro Summer Solstice, at the High Point Library and at the holiday Festival of Lights in downtown Greensboro. They are looking forward to reaching out even further in the coming year.

Heather has been dancing on and off since the age of 4. She discovered belly dance in 2006, but found a passion for it while taking a workshop with Zoe Jakes in 2008. She hasn't stopped dancing since. While her main focus is fusion bellydance, she strives to learn all she can about what she considers to be an amazing and underappreciated art form. Heather is currently Level 1 certified in Rachel Brice's 8 Elements with plans for 8 Elements Teacher Certification in the near future.
Dee started belly dancing in 2008 under Faun Finley, Carmen Cavanagh, & Xavier Shadowdancer at Studio 318. After Studio 318 closed and many of the students & teachers moved to Twisted Dance, she continued her lessons with Xavier Shadowdancer.
She loves performing and decided to try out for Maliaka when auditions were announced. To no one’s suprise, she made the troupe. She has been a core member of Malaika and has performed in duets with Xavier at several events. In 2012, she joined Twisted Dance’s tribal fusion troupe, Fringe.
Her love of belly dance & performance continues to this day!
Sherri started at Twisted Dance with dance experience that was limited to her living room and the occasional club. Within no time, she was hooked. Belly dance gave her an outlet to be creative while exercising and learning something new. She says, "I have been amazed at what my body has learned to do! I believe that you can do anything, if you are dedicated, and, for me, being a part of Fringe is proof of that. We have a wonderful time dancing together and it shows in our performances. I encourage anyone to just try one class. You never know… you might get hooked too!"
